January: Rotary Awareness Month

You may be considering joining Rotary but are not sure what this might involve and cost. You may even wonder what Rotary is about. Our tried and tested motto is "Service above Self". Pretty clear? If you feel you would like put something back into the community either locally or internationally then Rotary is an enjoyable way of achieving that. The four objects of Rotary are:

  • FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
  • FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Basically what this means is that the wonderful friendship of Rotary guides you in the best way for you personally to offer service. Rotarians have respect for all occupations and and Rotarians adopt high ethical standards in their working life. Using your own particular profession,/job/skill to help others whether directly or indirectly. That whatever a Rotarian does in life it is with the thought of helping others and finally through the international side of Rotary - there are 1.2 million members - we can work towards peace and harmony in the world.
